election night and pool

it looks like the democats are winning the house and might win the senate ... time for a change in how the country is run it appears ... maybe a bit more consensus and discourse will be good ... we can but hope it's funny but when you don't come from here you don't realise it's not like in the movies ... where there are clear cut heroes and villians and everything is larger than life and the leaders rise above the petty ... us foreigners grow up thinking it's like the movies and it honestly takes some time here to realise that it isn't quite how you think it is ... i'm sure we come across as dumbasses for a good few years until we really understand how things work here it is all the things it appears to be but in a far more down to earth way ... things here are honest in a way that it's hard to explain but you come to know after being here for a while ... it truly is the greatest experiment in the world and it's an honour to be a part of it even if that part is a truly tiny weeny little bit i am very aware of how much i have learned and understood and how that has changed me since i watched the last election in 2004 the pool match ... this is the lone star bar btw where we are playing tonight ... i came straight from teaching to play that we won eventually ... i won one and lost one which was blah cos i should have won both but whatever ... it's just a pool game ... more important things are happening in the world update apparently pombo has lost the tracy, ca seat after being in power there for 7 terms ... if it's true it's really good news for the environment ... i didn't like him or his policies
